DTLEX: Ein Expertensystem zur Objektbestimmung auf der Basis natürlichsprachiger Entscheidungsbäume
We report on the development of an expert system for the determina-
tion of objects, whose identification is difficult. The system is
called DTLEX = "Decision Tree and natural Language oriented Expert
System". It implements the technique of keys formulated in natural
language used especially in biology. These keys can be interpreted as
decision trees. In addition and in parallel to the normal step by
step decision process, properties and attributes of the unknown
object can be used very similar to the methods used in information
retrieval in oder to get an object identification. This function
requires a preprocessing of the properties formulated in natural
language. For that purpose the properties and attributes were supp-
lied automatically with mechanically resolvable semantic classifica-
tions. The source text used is a large key for the determination of
approximately 3100 european mushrooms. The whole knowledge base of
DTLEX is represented by a text file containing among other things
more than 65000 semantically classified attributes. (Paper in German
We present a new method for the dynamic simulation of linked
rigid body systems. Forces are systematically substituted by
impulses. In this way we suceed to perform the simulation in a
very direct way and without solving complex systems of
differential equations. The basic principle of the method is a
new iterative procedure to calculate impulses which con-serve
joint constraints. The implementation of the method is
comparably simple and it is very fast and accurat. This is
documented by a first presentation of experimental data and
accuracy estimates. In order to start the simulation,
mechanical models need only minimal preprocessing. The impulse-
based method is also very flexible if new types of joints have
to be introduced. Collision and friction are implemented in a
direct manner. The method is especially well suited for the
new generation of VR systems with correct dynamic and kine-
matic behaviour of VR-worlds. It is also well suited for the
simulation of mechatronic systems since the simulation of
complex models like six-legged walking machines is possible in
real time on a PC
Interaktionspartner in der VR-Welt modellieren will.

Feasibility and efficacy of pairing fecal immunochemical testing with mammography for increasing colorectal cancer screening among uninsured Latinas in northern Manhattan
Objectives: We evaluated the feasibility and efficacy of a program to promote colorectal cancer screening (CRC) among uninsured Latinas receiving mammography through a cancer screening clinic in northern Manhattan.
Methods: Between August 2009 and March 2010, unscreened, average CRC risk, uninsured Latinas, aged 50–64 years, undergoing mammography received a screening recommendation, education, and fecal immunochemical test (FIT). Socio-demographic information and level of acculturation was collected. Screening compliance was assessed.
Results: Of 651 Latinas evaluated, 210 were eligible and, of these, 94% (n = 197) consented to participate; 441 were excluded because they were up-to-date with CRC screening (n = 130), less than 50 (n = 285) or greater than 64 (n = 26) years of age. After intervention, 177 (90%) completed FIT. Within 2 weeks, 87% completed the FIT, and 69% did so with no reminder calls. Acculturation was significantly lower among screeners (p = 0.014). Compared with non-screeners, screeners were more likely to be foreign-born (p = 0.009), to speak only Spanish (p = 0.043), and to prefer to read (p = 0.037), and think (p = 0.015) in Spanish.
Conclusion: This study suggests that pairing CRC education and screening with mammography is both feasible and efficacious
Multimediasysteme idealerweise genuegen sollten. Darueberhinaus erklaeren
herkoemlichen Workstation-LAN
Fotorealistische Wasseranimationen bei Brunnenanlagen
demonstriert.

Photo-Realistic Animation of Water for Fountain Installations
The aim of this work is the development of a simulation method for the
animation of fountain arrangements with computer graphics methods. For
that purpose existing methods for the simulation of liquids are
investigated to see if they are suitable for this task and are modified
where necessary.
Since the effects appearing on a fountain are too manifold to be solved
efficiently by a single simulation method, a method is developed in this
report, which compounds a whole water simulation using a module system
of specialized simulation techniques. By this means the potency of a
particular technique can be exploited and its drawbacks can be
compensated by other methods.
One of this modules is a specialized surface-particle-system, which can
imitate the flow of fluids on a surface. Surface properties like
adhesion and roughness are taken into account. The capacity of this
method is demonstrated by a simulation of a fountain assembled from
wedge shaped cubes.

Impuls-based dynamic simulation of higher order and numerical results
First, we will provide a short introduction to the impulse-based
method for dynamic simulation. Till now, impulses were
frequently used to resolve collisions between rigid bodies. In
the last years, we have extended these techniques to simulate
constraint forces. Important properties of the new impulse
method are: (1) Simulation in Cartesian coordinates, (2)
complete elimination of the constraint drift known from Lagrange
multiplier methods, (3) simple integration of collision and
friction and (4) real-time performance even for complex
multibody systems like six-legged walking machines. In order to
demonstrate the potential of the impulse-based method, we report
on numerical experiments. We compare the following dynamic
simulation methods: (1) Generalized (or reduced) coordinates,
(2) the Lagrange multiplier method with and without several
stabilization methods like Baumgarte, the velocity correction
and a projection method, (3) impulse-based methods of
integration order 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. We have simulated the
mathematical pendulum, the double and the triple pendulum with
all of these dynamic simulation methods and report on the
attainable accuracy. It turned out that the impulse methods of
higher integration order are all of O(h3) but have very small
factors and are therefore relatively accurate. A Lagrange
multiplier method fully stabilized by impulse-based techniques
turned out to be the best of the Lagrange multiplier methods tested

Fecal-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening Among the Uninsured in Northern Manhattan
Background
Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening reduces CRC mortality; however, for many reasons, uninsured individuals are less likely to utilize CRC screening tests.
Purpose
To compare CRC screening behaviors and outcomes with guaiac fecal occult blood testing (gFOBT) from 1998 to 2006 and fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) from 2006 to 2010 in a community-based program serving uninsured patients in northern Manhattan.
Methods
In 2013, we conducted a retrospective record review of individuals aged ≥50 years who received fecal-based CRC screening at the Northern Manhattan Cancer Screening Partnership between 1998 and 2010. Included were those with household income ≤250% of the federal poverty level, no medical insurance coverage, and who were not up to date with CRC screening. We assessed screening positivity rate, positive predictive value, differences in the use of diagnostic colonoscopy, colonoscopic findings, and adenoma detection rates for gFOBT versus FIT.
Results
In total, 7,710 patients completed CRC screenings (4,951 gFOBT and 2,759 FIT). The majority were female, Hispanic, foreign born, and young at age of first screening. Compared to gFOBT, FIT detected twice as many positive tests (3.2% vs 1.5%, p≤0.001) and had a higher adenoma detection rate (18.2 vs 11.8, p=0.002).
Conclusions
The improved positivity and adenoma detection rates with greater number of screening tests over time favor the use of FIT over gFOBT for colorectal screening among uninsured populations in northern Manhattan
